The novel ‘Bhava’ has a spiritualist
motif which is a strong recurrent motif
in the literature of Dr. U R Ananathmurthy, by and large. The quest for the
meaning and origin, liberation from “Bhava’
(existence) , ambition to reach
a state of being free from egotism, are
his persistent themes . But in his earlier works, they were overshadowed by
more burning social issues like cultural, fiscal, political topics. One may
question whether the emotional
twitching of Jagannatha and
Krishne gowda was just politically motivated or was it spiritual? Similarly, did Keshava and Stuart in
“Clipjoint” merely crave for a change in the lifestyle? They were not explicitly categorized as purely extremely personal, social, political,
or spiritual feelings. One would
manifest within the other or all would give a synergic effect. ‘Bhava’ does not seem to have such an
intensity of complexity and ambition. It
is a very simple narrative. It has a
most unusual feature, atypical of U R Ananthamurthy, where the narrative gives
prominence to the chain of
events, and chance of coincidence...

Much of the present day traumatic situation is attributed to people moving
away from spiritual readings. But, it is quite difficult to get reliable
accounts of saintly lives because they are heavily dependent on miracles and
adulation. Neither the matter nor the manner of portrayal carries noteworthy
spiritual instruction or any literary merit. In such situation one eminent
exception is the contemporary literature based on the life and teachings of the
19th century Hindu saint Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. His contact with
the influential Brahmo leaders brought about the genesis of Ramakrishna
literature. These are authentic contemporary accounts of the saint’s life and
teachings. The writings of the Brahmo admirers of Ramakrishna gave rise to the
subsequent literature authored by writers of repute in the last hundred years.
This article discusses the mutually enriching relationship between the saint
Ramakrishna and the enlightened Brahmos that subsequently gave birth to the
vast literature known as Ramakrishna-Vivekananda literature which occupies the
pride of place in spiritual literature as they have become very much part of
mainstream literature.

Language used in the postcolonial novels plays important roles as the
novels have made it a vehicle to express contesting ideological differences
between classes, castes, generations, religions and races in the contemporary
societal organization. Language becomes a medium of fight with all sort of
warfare loaded with socio-linguistic consciousness. It is observed that the
form of language the upper, superior class and caste people in the multicultural
situation use is a means by which they establish their identity and control
over others, the lower strata of the society, both the classes and castes. It
is a dialectal form of language displaying their social superiority or status
in the hierarchical set up. The lower classes struggle to adjust and, at the
same time, revolt with a fire of intolerance.

The transportation system is often referred to as the nation’s “lifeblood
circulation system.” Our complex system of roads and highways, railroads,
airports and airlines, waterways, and urban transit systems provides for the
movement of people and goods within and between our densest urban cities and
the most remote outposts of the nation. Without the ability to travel and to
transport goods, society must be structured around small self-sufficient
communities, each of which produces food and material for all of its needs
locally and disposes of its wastes in a similar manner. The benefits of
economic specialization exists to move needed materials of production to
centralized locations, and finished products to widely dispersed consumers.

Recent years have witnessed an upsurge of interest in how personality affects
the stress process. This paper reports on a broad spectrum of findings on the
relationships between personality and stress, taking transactional stress
theory as the point of departure. A first part outlines the different
approaches stress research has taken within personality psychology as opposed
to research based on transactional stress theory and discusses the debate
between these two paradigms. The second part gives an overview of empirical
findings, with a focus on the Big Five personality factors, in order to
demonstrate that personality affects the stress process in every aspect. The
discussion suggests that we address unresolved problems of transactional stress
research in the framework of interactionism personality psychology. Special
attention ought to be given to developing a better understanding of situational
characteristics, stress-producing mechanisms, and the functions of situational
choices and coping strategies for personality

Knowledge of ergonomics is important in order to prevent injuries and enhance health in the workplace (Swedish Work Environment Authority, 1998). Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are amongst the most common work-related problem throughout the world and India is no exception. The present study aimed to identify the prevalence of musculoskeletal pain among residential building sweepers among urban Mumbai city. Cross sectional descriptive study was conducted among 120 sweepers (60 male and 60 women) from western suburban residential buildings from urban Mumbai city. A modified Nordic Questionnaire was used to collect the necessary information followed by interview technique to elicit occupational activities data of residential sweepers. The results from Nordic Questionnaire showed that there is a high frequency of perceived musculoskeletal problems among residential sweepers. The results showed that most of the residential sweepers suffered from some MSD symptoms. The highest prevalence was reported in shoulder (91.67%) and arm (83.33%) among male residential sweepers. Among the female residential sweepers arm (93.33%) and low back (83.33%) were the most affected regions. The study concludes that the building residential sweepers and majorly females experienced a number of musculoskeletal problems. There is a need for occupational health intervention; MSD risk factors can be an appropriate base for planning and implementing ergonomics intervention programmes in the workplace.

The present paper discusses the Supply Chain Management as a tool for improving the total quality management in process industries (Sugar Plant). Sugar plant is a complex and repairable engineering unit, which comprises of various systems namely feeding, crushing, steam generation, crystallization and refining etc. Supply chain management is a central and important area of academic research due to its impact on process industries competing in today’s global economy. In today’s competitive environment, it is extremely difficult to successfully produce high quality, low cost products without considering a satisfactory set of suppliers. Suppliers form the first link in the supply chain of any organization. Suppliers selection is a multi criteria problem, which includes both qualitative and quantitative factors, Intelligent supply chain results in reduction of inventory, production and distribution costs, when production of sugar is high, consumption of sugar in domestic market is increasing, and their potential for industries are to perform well. This paper represents the ways to achieve Total Quality Management using Supply Chain Management principles in process industries.

The emergence of Information and
Communication Technology (ICT) has proved to be a vehicle for faster and better
communication, retrieval of data and utilization of information to its users.e-Governance
is basically the application of ICT to provide government services to the
citizens through internet. In other words, e-Governance involves ICTs,
especially the internet, to improve the delivery of government services to
citizens, businesses and government agencies. The use of internet not only
delivers the services faster but also brings more transparency between the
government and the citizens. Latest surveys show
that internet penetration into the
rural population of India is
a meagre 10% than current digital market in India. Our objective
is to
extend the e-Governance of Government
of India
(GOI) to digitally cornered rural
areas,so that India can be transformed into a digitally
empowered society and knowledge economy.
Our idea put forth the design of Broadband
Infrastructure that exploits
the cutting
edge technologies of Wi-Fi and
TV UHF
for providing
rural broadband connectivity. This idea
ensures to provide
the sustainable
infrastructure to every
citizen so that the Governance
and Services
can be
provided on demand which will
pave the
way for
digital empowerment of citizens.

The
widespread use and increasing capabilities of mobile devices are making them a
viable platform for offering mobile services. However the increasing resource
demands of mobile services and the inherent constraints of mobile devices limit
the quality and type of functionality that can be offered, preventing mobile
devices from exploiting their full potential as reliable service providers.
Computation offloading offers mobile devices the opportunity to transfer
resource–intensive computation to more resourceful computing infrastructures. In
this paper we present a framework for cloud assisted mobile service
provisioning to assist mobile devices in delivering reliable services. It also
enables the mobile provider to delegate the cloud infrastructure to forward the
service response directly to the user when no further processing is
required by the provider.

In the twentieth
century human life is not so much faced with the great issues of humanity or
dignity as with a crisis that is directly related to the human life in
consumerist, materialistic and individualistic social system. Edward Albee in
his plays brings out the crisis of modern human life. The crisis of modern
human life is related to the lack of communication,
individualism, materialism, alienation and lack of motivation for living life.
Albee explores the tragedy of the modern man in a very sensitive and
comprehensive way. From the beginning of his career his ears were very
sensitive to the voice of anguish of human life.

Beckett’s Waiting for Godot is a masterpiece in English literature with postmodernistic point of view. It is considered to be the last modernist or
the first postmodernist literature. The
characters Vladimir and Estragon represents
the miserable condition of life in the present. The play gives deep insight
into the human conditions, and reflects a
mirror to the audience which makes them ask, is this me and my life
