In the recent years, a good number of industrial
establishment have mushroomed on the agricultural lands in Raigad Districts.
This development is necessary to boost economy of the State. But it is done at
the cost of farmers livelihood. The industrial impact is so great that they are
rendered homeless and jobless. Because their arable lands are appropriated for
the industrial purpose. Moreover, this has affected the growth of the produce.
As a result, the field products are now scarce and are sold at exorbitant
prices. Under the prevailing circumstances, the poor farmers are compelled to
seek their livelihood somewhere in the urban areas.

Stylistics is a systematic way of exploring a
literary text especially the language of a text and tries to explain how language
creates meaning, style and certain effect. The study of stylistics is
considered as one of the significant tools to analyze a literary piece from the
point of view of language. There are a number of scholars who are engaged in
the interpretation of different genres of literature such as prose, poetry,
drama, short story and one-act-play with the help of Stylistics. The
interpretation of poetry is possible with the help of some of the important
terms in stylistics. The students of literature are to be made aware of the
fact that without looking at the individual and collective usages of the
lexical items, it is not possible to comprehend the meaning of a poem of any
sort. The present article is exclusively devoted to the rudimentary study of
Stylistics, an important branch of linguistics. In the beginning, it offers a
historical background of Stylistics as a linguistic discipline examines
strength and weakness and unfolds its scope and limitations following important
definitions.

The National Rural Employment Guarantee Act 2005
(NREGA) renamed as Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act
(MGNREGA) is the most realistic approach to the problems of poverty and
unemployment in rural India. In fact, the Scheme ensures the employment
security of the rural poor by providing guaranteed wage employment for minimum
one hundred days. The studyexamines India’s National Rural Employment Guarantee
Scheme (NREGS) according to criteria viz. average number of days of employment
per household; percentage of households completing 100 days of employment under
NREGS; percentage of expenditure against total available funds etc. Performance
of the first two criteria has been disappointing and has deteriorated over a
period of time. However the percentage of expenditure against total available
funds has risen sharply.

Rabindranath
Tagore, a major bridge builder between the East and the west could make an
indelible mark on the pages of the history of Indian writing in English,
viewing the composite culture and pluralistic society of India through the
inward his eye, being of a universal poet of a great intellectual variety and
depth of his approach, which fetched him the unique distinction of being the
first ever receipt of the Nobel Prize for literature for his ‘Gitanjali’ in the
year 1913 in Asia. It is the rarest honour that his literary acumen has gifted
him with. Being a man of great versatility, proving his mettle in the arts such
as painting, singing, writing and composing music, Tagore could bring to our a
close ‘The Universal Man’, ‘the Cosmic Man’, The poetry and prose which accrued
from the great literary genius of Tagore catered to the men and women of all
ages, nations and generations with their quality of being able to get matched
to their needs both aesthetic and spiritual. Coupled with Tagore’s traits, as a
poet, of making the people understand what true nationalism was and is and what
it should be his poetic exuberance succeeded in making the people of a subject
nation understand the real reasons for their subjugation, which were, in a
word, ignorance, illiteracy and superstition.
