TREATMENT OF THE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE IN INDIAN CINEMA VIS-À-VIS THE WORLD CINEMA

DR. ASHISH PANDEY

ABSTRACT

This paper tries to analyse the difference in the treatment of a zombie apocalypse situation in western films and Indian cinema. Zombie films generally show corpses that are infected with deadly viruses that bring a slow death and rapid transformation in the host. The only way to escape a zombie apocalypse is to keep movie and kill the zombies in Hollywood films. The scenario is slightly different in Indian cinema where there haven’t been many films based on the themes of zombies. The ones that are based on the western models have bombed at the box office, whereas those with what can be called the Indian approach have done well.

REGULATING WIND ENERGY IN INDIA: THE NEED FOR CLEAR LAWS AND REGULATIONS

DIVYARAJSINH GOHIL

ABSTRACT

India is one of the fastest-growing economies in the world, and the demand for energy in the country is constantly increasing. In recent years, there has been a significant shift towards renewable energy sources, particularly wind energy. The Indian government has set ambitious targets for wind energy generation, and the sector has attracted significant investment from both domestic and international players. However, to ensure the growth and sustainable development of the wind energy sector, it is essential to have clear policy and regulatory frameworks. Wind energy law in India needs to be regulated to address issues such as grid integration, tariff structures, incentives for investors, and to safeguard the interests of all stakeholders involved in the wind energy value chain. In this context, it is crucial to understand the reasons why wind energy law should be regulated in India and the implications of clear regulatory frameworks for the growth and sustainable development of the sector.

DOCTRINE OF WAIVER IN PASSIVE EUTHENASIA IN INDIA

ABHISHEK SAAD

ABSTRACT

Passive euthanasia is a topic that has been a subject of legal, moral and ethical debate in India. The concept of passive euthanasia involves withholding or withdrawing medical treatment or life-support measures from a terminally ill patient, with the intent of allowing the patient to die a natural death. In India, the legal position on passive euthanasia has undergone significant changes in recent years. In 2018, the Supreme Court of India recognized the right to die with dignity as a fundamental right under the Constitution of India. The court also upheld the validity of passive euthanasia and laid down detailed guidelines for its implementation. The court's decision was based on the principle of autonomy and the right to self-determination of an individual. The concept of waiver is an important aspect of passive euthanasia in India. The doctrine of waiver provides that a person can waive his/her right to life and allow passive euthanasia to be carried out in the event of a terminal illness. This doctrine has been recognized by the courts in India and has been used to allow passive euthanasia in certain cases. In this paper, we will explore the legal position on passive euthanasia in India and the application of the doctrine of waiver in such cases.

INDIAN LAWS ON DEFAMATION ON THE INTERNET

PARAM DAVE

ABSTRACT

In Indian law, defamation is a well-established tort with a complex historical and legal background. As social and political realities changed over time, particularly the influence of the internet and social media on public discourse, so did India's legislation on defamation. The British common law that was adopted during the colonial era is where India's defamation laws got their start. Sections 499 and 500 of the Indian Criminal Code of 1860, which was heavily influenced by English criminal law, recognised slander and libel as defamation offences. Originally intended to safeguard the reputation of British colonial officials, the law of defamation was later expanded to include Indian residents as well.

A SYMBIOSIS: MARITIME LAW AND ADR

PRANSHAV PANDYA

ABSTRACT

This thesis explores the relationship between Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and Admiralty Law, two areas of law that have traditionally been viewed as distinct and separate. Through a detailed analysis of the historical development of both ADR and Admiralty Law, as well as an examination of the current legal landscape, this thesis argues that there is a symbiotic relationship between these two areas of law that can benefit both legal practitioners and clients. It first provides a comprehensive overview of ADR and Admiralty Law, including their origins, key principles, and modern applications. It then explores the ways in which these two areas of law intersect, such as in the context of maritime disputes, and how ADR can be used to complement traditional Admiralty Law processes. Using case studies and examples drawn from real-world legal practice, this thesis demonstrates how ADR can be used effectively in Admiralty Law cases to reduce costs, speed up resolution times, and provide clients with more satisfactory outcomes. It also considers the potential challenges and drawbacks of using ADR in this context, and proposes solutions to these issues. Overall, this thesis argues that a symbiotic relationship between ADR and Admiralty Law can lead to more efficient, cost-effective, and equitable outcomes for clients, while also enhancing the overall practice of law in both areas.

SMART BRIDGE – AN AUTOMATIC HIGH LIFT UP WHILE FLOODING

SAMRUDDHI NILESH KALASKAR; HARSHAL SANTOSH SHELAR; PRATHMESH SHIVAJI DHANWATE

ABSTRACT

This paper found that there is more than one kind of adaptation planning to flood in Jakarta. At the city level, the plan is to control the floods; at the community level, the plan is to live with them. This divergence is caused by discrete departure points, different planning methods, and varying sources of knowledge. It thus interferes with the institutionalization of planning because the divergent worlds between city and kampung are not connected. As an agglomeration of kampungs, Jakarta should understand the relationship between floods and urban poor within kampung. Even though KMB has the greatest flood risk and is the poorest settlement in Penjaringan sub-district, the recurrent floods do not discourage migration into and the spread of housing in KMB. Instead, inundation events have become flood incidents due to KMB's high-density settlement and poor drainage system.
