EXISTENTIALISM IN ARUN JOSHI’S NOVEL: THE FOREIGNER

DR. PAWAN KUMAR

ABSTRACT

“Literature”, quotes Iyengar the French literary historian, M. Taine, “is the creation of three factors: the race, the milieu, the moment.”(Iyengar, Indian Writing in English. 22)  As regards Indo-Anglian literature, the ‘race’ is the mixed India race, a resultant of invasions, conquests, and occupations extending over a period of four or five thousand years; the ‘milieu’, the variegated Indian subcontinent comprising extremes of every kind, heir to a geography and cultural heritage all its own; and the ‘moment’, the meeting of the West and India. In order to probe into the etiology of this literature, a fair survey of historical facts is essential, for the beginnings of the old literatures are generally shrouded in the mists of antiquity. The present article is a humble effort to conduct a fair and judicious probe into the upcoming of this rejuvenating and audacious plant- ‘the Anglo Indian Novel’.

RATIO ANALYSIS: A STUDY ON INDIAN COMMERCIAL BANKS

SRI AYAN CHAKRABORTY

ABSTRACT

Financial Analysis is the process of identifying the financial strengths and weakness of a firm by property establishing relationships between the item of the balance sheet and the profit and loss account. It can be undertaken by management of the firm, or by parts outside the firm. Ratio Analysis is a powerful tool of financial analysis.  A ratio is defined as “the indicated quotient of two mathematical expressions” and “the relationship between two or more things”.  In financial analysis, a ratio is used as a benchmark for evaluation the financial position and performance of a firm.  The absolute accounting figures reported in the financial statements do not provide a meaningful understanding of the performance and financial position of a firm.  An accounting figure conveys meaning when it is related to some other relevant information...

SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC STUDY OF CU (II) LYSINE & CU (II) L – ARGININE IN AQUEOUS MEDIUM

MARYAPPA CHUDAPPA SONAWALE & V. R. PATIL

ABSTRACT

In the present investigation, kinetic measurements of oxidation of various amino acids in acidic, neutral and alkaline medium were studied. The Kobd value for the reactions obtained from calculations and from graphical representations was evaluated. The order of reaction was confirmed from the slopes of plots of log Kobd Vs log C.

In all the systems studied, the order was found to be one with respect to each reactant. The rates of reactions were evaluated by using the usual expression. The effect of varying concentration of amino acids, oxidants, Br-, Fe++, surfactants like T-80 and T-X-100 on rate of reaction has also been studied. In order to study the effect of ionic strength and temperature on K0bd, the systems were studied at different concentrations of the electrolyte and at elevated temperatures.

Keywords:- The oxidation of amino acids viz. glycine, DL-alanine, DL-leucine, DL-aspartic acid, DL-glutamic acid, L-lysine and L-arginine by potassium permanganate in sulphuric acid.

The face and content validity of the questionnaire was done with the assistance of 5 experts. Cronbach Alpha method was used to determine the reliability of the instrument. An Alpha value of 0.85 was obtained. Data collected for the study were analysed using descriptive of mean and standard deviation. Findings revealed a positive effect of intrinsic motivation on teachers while extrinsic motivation shows negative effect on teachers in the schools. ABSTRACT

This article presents an overview of inventory of grass weeds in crop fields of Anantapuram district, Andhra Pradesh.  The weed species of Poaceae family encountered in the cultivated crop fields of the study area.  A total of 83 grass taxa identified as weeds in the both dry fields and irrigated crop fields.  The weeds of Anantapuram district comprises 35% of the total weeds encountered in the state crop fields.  Of the 284 total grasses recorded from the state 83 of them are recorded from the cultivated fields of Anantapuram district. It is observed that out of 83, 43 are common in all crop fields, 29 and 11 taxa are occasional and rare occurrence respectively.  Aristida adscensionis and cynodon dactylon are gregarious in all crop fields.  Echinochloa colona, E.crus-galli are causing heavy loss to the rice crop.  The key objective of the study is provision of grass taxa as weeds in crop fields of Anantapuram district.

HINDU SINDHIS-ROOTS AND ROUTES OF DIASPORA

HEMA RAVI PINJANI

ABSTRACT

Based on field research activity and oral history, this paper is about the general demographic and social structure of pre-1947 Sind. It is a brief discussion on the different distinctions within the Hindu Sindhi group. As one knows with independence and partition of India, Hindu Sindhis are a dispersed community. And it is these distinctions that had and continue to have a bearing on the occupational patterns of the Diaspora and Sindhi business practice generally.

Crucial to this study is the fact that in the post-partition contemporary Sindhi society, Sindhi identity subsumes, even while preserving to varying degrees all these differences. The paper concludes that how after partition, ‘Sindhiness’ became a distinct identity from those living around the displaced Sindhis. Yet, inspite of distinctions between Sindhi jatis and regionalities, Hindu Sindhis today consider themselves to belong to the same ethnic group sharing common characteristics.

UNSTEADY CONVECTIVE HEAT TRANSFER OF A VISCOUS FLUID THROUGH A POROUS MEDIUM IN A VERTICALCHANNEL WITH QUADRATIC TEMPERATURE VARIABLE

DR. K. GNANESWAR

ABSTRACT

We make an investigation of the radiation effect on an unsteady mixed convection heat transfer through a porous medium confined in a vertical channel on whose walls a traveling thermal wave in imposed-in the presence of the heat sources. The equations governing the flow and heat transfer which are non-linear and coupled have been solved by applying a regular perturbation technique with the aspect ratio d as a perturbation parameter. The effect of radiation on the entire flow characteristic has been shown by graphical representations of the velocity, temperature, shear stress and Nusselt number.

CONCISE STUDY OF POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE SIDES OF BLUETOOTH EARPIECE

Ms. G. NIVEDHA; Ms. E. CAROLIN KIRUBA; Ms. M. NANDHINI; Ms. S.SARANYA

ABSTRACT

Bluetooth is a (short-range) wireless standard, which has been improved over the years. Bluetooth is a wireless technology standard for exchanging data over short distances (using short-wavelength UHF radio waves in the ISM band from 2.4 to 2.485 GHz) from fixed and mobile devices, and building personal area networks (PANs).Now a days, Bluetooth ear piece have become very popular and some people wear it all day long on their ear, these people also hold their cell phone in their pockets or in a belt-clipper and by that they get exposed to electromagnetic radiations all day long. This paper will focus on the basic introduction of Bluetooth technology , benefits of Bluetooth earpiece, effects of earpiece on health (i.e. negative side of Bluetooth earpiece), and alternatives of Bluetooth earpiece and at the end of this paper we will conclude about the positive and negative side of Bluetooth earpiece. The main aim of the paper is to make a clear vision about effects of Bluetooth earpiece, because when we use earpiece we expose our self double to radiations.
