PYOVERDINE PRODUCTION BY NOVEL STRAIN OF PSEUDOMONAS FROM MARINE SOURCE OF ALIBAGH, MAHARASHTRA

INCHURE. S. M. ; P. B. PAWAR & D. V. VEDPATHAK

ABSTRACT

Using Zobell agar 42 bacterial isolates were obtained from marine water samples. These isolates were screened for the production of the pigment Pyoverdine by cultivating them on Pseudomonas Isolation Agar (PIA). Eight isolates were confirmed as pyoverdine producers by  U.V. studies and were identified based on their morphological and biochemical characterization. These isolates were further evaluated for the production of pyoverdine in succinate media and estimated both qualitative and quantitatively using CAS assay. Isolate RSML 05741 was found to be the most efficient producer with 87% siderophore production. pH 8 and 300C were reported as most suitable parameters for maximum siderophore production.

THE PORTRAYAL OF THE DEPRIVED AND EXPLOITED IN THE WHITE TIGER BY ARAVIND ADIGA

DR. BALASAHEB SAGADE & JYOTSNA SHIVAJI KANADE

ABSTRACT

This paper examines how Aravind Adiga’s novel, The White Tiger, portrays the lives of impoverished and exploited individuals in contemporary India. The central character, Balram Halwai, is a man from the privileged class who struggles against social inequality, corruption, and the supremacy of the rich. Through his story, the author reveals how the poor are deprived of opportunities, forced into servitude. The study shows that Balram’s journey symbolises the harsh realities behind India’s development. The author has tried to give a voice to those who are frequently unnoticed. The central theme of the novel is to show how exploitation shapes a person’s life, and another important thing is how the desire for freedom can lead to both courage and violence.

MIGRATION AND MIGRANT IDENTITY IN SALMAN RUSHDIE’S GRIMUS

V. GAYATHRI & DR. N. VIJAYAKUMARI

ABSTRACT

The issue of alienation is frequently examined in contemporary literature and art to highlight how people feel about themselves, their families, and society. When confronted with a foreign culture, this alienation can occasionally worsen or become pathological. The definition of "alienation" according to the dictionary is "to make hostile where previously friendship existed." Thus, this would suggest a hostile separation between the adoptive nation and the expatriate's native country. The degree to which the authors have been able to recognize and adjust to their environment has had a significant impact on the tone and subject matter of their writing. In addition to meaning "to identify," "to become identical," or "to become the same as," the word "identity" can also mean "assimilation." It can be on a variety of levels, including emotional, linguistic, cultural, psychological, and societal. Despite their apparent synonymy, the terms immigration and expatriation have a little distinction. Whereas immigration describes the nation into which a person has come to dwell and establish his home, expatriation concentrates on the native land that has been abandoned.
