With
plastic pollution in the international limelight this year, Government of
Maharashtra ban on plastic stands out as a shining example in India’s larger
effort to align with international priorities. The view on the ground however,
is that the ban in its current form is weak and is likely to fail. While it
closed multiple opportunities, the ban on plastics also opened some. It has
been over two Months since Maharashtra banned single-use plastics in a bid to
make the state cleaner and greener. This study stepped out to assess how the
city is adapting to the change. One of the biggest hit was the hoteliers who
are still struggling. While some have added paper and aluminium foiled
containers, lack of cheaper alternatives has meant production costs have gone
up. This even as a big chunk of their lucrative parcel service that accounts
for over 30% of their business is seeing a drop. The change has been the most
difficult for unorganised players like the recycling industry operating out of
the slums of Dharavi. Dharavi units recycle all types of plastic before sending
it to different manufacturing units around the city. The ban has meant a direct
hit on employment of the daily wagers in these recycling units with no job
alternatives. “The impact of this ban will be such that around 25,000-30,000
people are to set to lose jobs in Dharavi alone. This ban will affect 50% of
total recycling industry.”

Food
is a perishable commodity. It is affected by a range of physical, chemical and
biological processes and under certain conditions it may deteriorate. Besides
spoiling many desirable properties of foods, deterioration, together with the
growth of microorganisms, may produce toxic substances which have harmful
effects on the health of consumers. Through inhibiting the growth of harmful
microorganisms and preventing spoilage, food preservatives and antioxidants
improve the safety and palatability of foods Over the past two decades, food
preservatives and antioxidants played more important roles in food processing
due to the increased production of prepared, processed, and convenience foods.
Preservatives and antioxidants are required to prolong the shelf-life of many
foods. To protect public health, food preservatives and antioxidants have to
undergo stringent evaluation by international authorities. In general,
preservatives and antioxidants are permitted for food use only when they are
proved to present no hazard to the health at the level of use proposed and a
reasonable technological need can be demonstrated and the purpose cannot be
achieved by other means which are economically and technologically practicable.
Furthermore, their uses should not mislead the consumer. So, the present
article discusses the need and importance of preservatives in today’s modern
food industry.

The reader would have often heard often heard
of people talking of a particular thing being in fashion in a particular field
or of the fashion of a particular thing having been ousted from a particular
sphere. Young men and women almost never tire of talking of fashion
irrespective of the place in which they are and are always desirous of
appearing the most fashionable among their friends. It is not unusual for women
of a neighborhood to go stampeding to buy an new sari if one of the women among
them has bought a new one. Previously, the men used to wear trousers which were
open at the bottom but now they have reverted to the use of what is known in
knowledgeable circles as a drainpipe.

Pleasure, in the Renaissance drama is
represented namely as an Aesthetic pleasure. In a drama the actors
defamiliarize themselves for enhancing the Aesthetic pleasure; and thus, the
concept of “alienation effect” serves the purpose. Hence, in the theatre house
audience doesn't behold the real identities of the actors but the characters of
the drama appear to them. Emotionally they get involved with the characters and
the incidents of the drama. In Epic Theatre Bertolt Brecht (1898-1956), a
German theatre practitioner, playwright and poet wished to block the emotional
attachment of the audience. According to Brecht theatre should appeal not to
the audience's emotions and feelings but to his reason and logic. In A
Midsummer Night's Dream (1605) Shakespeare has included another play entitled
‘The Most Lamentable Comedy, And Most Cruel Death of Pyramus and Thisbe’. In
‘Pyramus and Thisbe’ the manner of presentation is to some extent different
from the so called dramas. The title itself denotes the same. The popular
concept of ‘defamiliarization’ is missing here. Thus, there remains no scope of
emotional attachment with the actors on the stage as they disclose their real
identities. Undoubtedly, the audience in the play A Midsummer Night's Dream enjoys
a great deal, but the performance fails to provide any Aesthetic pleasure. It
must be said that a lesson they learn regarding the fact of love, separation
and death. In the present paper an attempt has been made to show how the said
play alienates itself from the traditional flow of dramatic art, and at the
same time the paper highlights how the people from gallery succeed blocking
their emotional attachment with the actors on the stage.

In
this techno savvy world nearly every person is having his own smart phone with
internet attachment. India is the fastest growing market for Internet providing
company. Expenses on internet done by general people in India is growing every
year. India is one of the top most countries using personal internet connection
with smart phones. Indians not only use internet for information exchange but
also for doing business, online purchase and sales of goods and services. As
technology is upgrading every now and then the proportion of e-commerce to
traditional commerce in the country is also increasing. The main reason behind increasing
love for e-commerce in the people is that it saves time of people. People don’t
have time for tradition shopping as it covers time required for travelling to
reach the shopping centre, traffic jams, parking problems etc. On the contrary
there are more varieties available online by seating at home 24 by 7. The mode
of payment for such transactions is either cash on delivery or direct online
payments through banks. Here comes the other side of transaction, the threat
connected with e-commerce i.e. cyber crime. This paper focuses on various types
of cyber crimes and precautions to be taken to overcome such crimes.
