THE EFFECTS OF PANDEMIC ON ARCHITECTURE – A STUDY ON THE TRANSFORMING DESIGN APPROACH IN ARCHITECTURE

Ar. NIRALI K GILBILE

ABSTRACT

Architectural professionals will now start ensuring to participate in the changes that are and will take place and not just be dependent on other external factors. Also, it is a time to analyse and optimise the processes in general and adapt the rapidly changing circumstances. Everything will now be depending upon the outcomes of this pandemic, that whether the inclination has to be towards the precautionary design which will result in altogether an extensive design approaches which will ensure the different norms like social distancing, disinfecting working spaces and so on or whether it allows to continue with the current design approaches which will be possible only when the pandemic will be completely eliminated. But as it has always been a trend and tendency that the design approaches or design evolutions have taken place into completely unique design definitions post such conditions of pandemics and has led to the thought processes of how things are designed, and then be it the change in design of drainpipes or working spaces. In short, the focus of everybody is going to prepare for the future.

BAMBOO- AN ECOFRIENDLY APPROACH IN INTERIOR DESIGN: A REVIEW

Id. SHAMBHAVI DIXIT

ABSTRACT

Today, sustainable interior isn't just a trend but an indoor style that has become a "revolution." The shortage of interior focus within the tactic of sustainable architectural development has created a niche between architects, interior designers, clients, or those wishing to live during a responsible construction environment. The diminishing wood resource and reduction in natural forests, particularly within the tropics, have focused world attention on the necessity to spot a substitute material that requires to be renewable, environment friendly and widely available. In sight of its rapid climb, a ready adaptability to most climate and properties, superior to most new fast growing wood, bamboo emerges as a really suitable alternative. This paper deals with a number of the most properties and therefore the major uses of bamboo and its culms in interiors. It focuses on various bamboo joineries utilized in bamboo furniture.

GRAHAM GREENE’S FICTIONAL FORTE OF PORTRAYING SPIRITUALLY DEAD PERSONS OR SINNERS IN HIS NOVELS

M. JAYASHREE

ABSTRACT

Graham Greene is regarded as one of the greatest and most popular of modern English novelists. The element that gives depth and dimension to his fiction is his faith in Catholicism. This faith has impelled him to probe deeply into the realities of  existence and seek religious and metaphysical solutions to life problems. His Catholicism colours his views on the world and reality. It also provides him with answers to several complex and baffling questions concerning human life. However, this Catholicism does not deprive him of or overshadow his competence in the sphere of novelistic art. In fact, his work presents a happy blend of religious thinking and artistic merit.

T. S. ELIOT’S POETIC DRAMAS AS THE ARTISTIC OUTCOME OF HIS DRAMATIC CAREER EFFECTING A CURIOUS MIXTURE OF RELIGIOUS BELIEF AND INDIVIDUAL ATTITUDE IN LIFE: AN APPRAISAL

DR. S. CHELLIAH

ABSTRACT

It is truly held that T.S.Eliot has been recognised as one of those great poets, whose poetry shows a keen awareness of the ills of contemporary civilization, its modes of living and ways of thought. Being extremely individualistic and idiosyncratic, he wrote for the cultural few and not for the common man. As a profound scholar with a well-stored mind, he loaded his poetry rather heavily with allusions and quotations covering a number of literatures, mythologies, religions and philosophies, both of the East and the West. In the early poetry, he merely criticises  and the criticism reaches its apex in The Waste Land while in the later poetry, he seeks to formulate a philosophy of religion which finds its completest expression in The Four Quarters. Eliot himself declared in 1928 as: “a classicist in literature, a royalist in politics, and an Anglo-Catholic in religion”.

ENGLISH LITERATURE AND HUMANISM

DR. DEEN DAYAL

ABSTRACT

Before going to main theme of the paper, it is a essential to tell when humanism came to English Literature, who were its pioneers and  before its emergence what was the position of English Literature in old, middle, renaissance and classical Renaissance period. The time period of about 500-1100 AD in British history is characterized by foreign invasion and internal struggles. This resulted in mixing of several races, the tongue and culture with the departure of Romans from British isles in 407 AD, fifth century saw the conquests and gradual occupations by Germanic tribes, angles, jutes and sexons who moved from Scandinavia and to Britain. The king Alfred, the great (871-900 AD) Stopped the advancement made by Vikings (known as Norman of Danes). Long before the language  came to writing, it was used as merry-making by singing folks, scops gleeman or bards who sang in the evening the war deeds of the day or the sagas of the past. The scop (Singer) and gleeman (poet) were also attached to court and their songs and poems were inspired by their love of pastoral freedom, their love of nature, their roles, their reverence for womanhood and their struggle for glory as a ruling motive in every noble life. Mostly, English was Germanic, having come from the languages ; of Angles, Jutes and Sexons. Hence the language was blended with strong influence of Latin.

A REVIEW ON USE OF SYNTHETIC GEOGRIDS FOR SOIL REINFORCEMENT

Ar. GAURAV SALUNKE & Ar. ANANT MISHRA

ABSTRACT

A type of geosynthetic material named geogrid plays a pivotal role in the behaviour of concrete by implementing them as an additional reinforcement. Geogrids have good tensile strength as they are formed by the reticulation of tensile elements with an opening of an ample size which allows interlock with the nearby fill materials. These grids are flexible mesh which is highly effective and enhances the life of the structure. The prime constituents of geogrid are polyester, high-density polyethylene, and polypropylene. More often, in the field of civil engineering,uni-axial, bi-axial and tri-axial geogrids are used. As the cost and duration of construction are nominal, geogrids can be optedfor cost-effective and resilient construction. They are frequently used as reinforcement and for stabilization in structures like retaining walls, pavements, foundations, slopes, and embankments. The geogrids are employed in various construction which results in sustainable development. The present study reviews the available state of the art knowledge on use of synthetic geogrids in soil reinforcement purposes including their types, initial development and use areas.

PRODUCTION OF OYSTER MUSHROOM ON WASHED AND SUGARCANE SUPPLIMENTED BAGASSE

SAMITA SUMAN & DR. SMITA KUMARI

ABSTRACT

The cultivation of Oyster mushroom is performed on different composted and pasteurized agricultural residues. Fresh sugarcane bagasse was washed in fresh water (control), and supplemented with corn grits (organic supplementation), or supplemented with nutrient solution (mineral supplementation). In the first experiment, the washed bagasse presented a average biological efficiency (ABE) of 19.16% with 44% contamination, and the pasteurized bagasse presented a ABE of 13.86% with 70% contamination. In the second experiment, corn grits presented the poorest performance, with a ABE of 15.66% and 60% contamination, while supplementation with the nutrient solution presented a ABE of 30.03%, whereas the control of 26.62%. Washing fresh sugarcane bagasse could suppress the pasteurized substrate in Oyster mushroom production, compensating a reduced ABE with a faster process.
